When a Heart Breaks
A poem about grief and heartbreak, and the quiet miracle of a heart that keeps beating.
Some sorrows are too deep for tears,Too heavy for the soul to bear,They settle where the heartbeats live,And leave their silent bruises there.
A name becomes a distant echo,A voice dissolves into the night,And what was once a world of colorSlowly fades to shades of white.
The flowers bloom, the rivers flow,The sun still rises in the sky,Yet somewhere in a quiet room,A heart forgets the reason why.
For grief is more than tears that fall,More than memories left behind,Sometimes the body bears the weightOf what the soul cannot define.
And isn’t love a strange affair? So delicate, yet strong enoughTo leave a heart in piecesWhen the world runs out of love.
But even hearts that bend and breakMay learn another song to sing,And somewhere underneath the sorrow,A fragile hope awaits the spring.
For though the heart may lose its rhythm,And ache beneath a love once known,The miracle is not that hearts can break,But that they still beat on their own.
